London, 26/03/2014. Today, the NUT (National Union of Teachers) carried out strike action across Britain. In London, the main demonstration saw tens of thousands of teachers, parents, children, school workers and trade unionists marching from Duchess Street (behind the BBC HQ) to Central Hall Westminster - Conference Centre (in front of Westminster Abbey), where the NUT had their final rally. From the NUT website: <<[…] - The intolerable levels of teachers’ workload or their unacceptably long working hours; - Implementation of performance related pay; - Increases to pension contributions or that teachers are being told that they have to work to 68 or even later for a full pension. Thousands are still leaving the profession due to intolerable working lives. A staggering 2 out of 5 stop teaching in their first 5 years and teacher morale is plummeting. […]>><br />
