London, 23/01/2016. Today, London's Italian people and members of the public held a demonstration outside the Italian Embassy in London to call for ending "the violation of human rights LGBT people". Similar demonstrations were held in more than hundred cities across Italy supporting the ddl - Decree-Law - Cirinnà (Family name of the Democratic Party PD Senator who presented the Law about same-sex unions) which supports the recognisement of the Civil Unions as specific social formations. Italian LGBT people cannot tell the same: in not recognising any form of same-sex couple and in denying the rights of children of same-sex couples, Italy wounds and humiliates the lives of Italian LGBT+ people. As Italian LGBT+ citizens and allies, we are outraged by this. Italy must end this violation of human rights, for which it has been condemned by the European Court of Human Rights. Further delays in the legal recognition of same-sex couples will only strengthen the apartheid. Lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans* people living in Italy cannot wait any longer: their lives are at stake. […]>>.<br />
