"We Will Fix Everything".
Rome, 01/05/2018. This year I will not go to a MayDay Parade, I will not photograph Red flags, trade unionists, activists, thousands of members of the public marching, celebrating, chanting, fighting, marking the International Worker's Day. This year, I decided to show an Occupation which I have been documenting and 'living' for the last months. This occupation is dedicated to Work, to Share, to collectively show and give Support & Solidarity, to be part of a community which works mainly for the public and in the public interest. This "Workers' Occupation" is called Officine Zero, OZ. It is in Rome, and it is struggling and fighting to survive and to show that Labour/Work - and manual Labour/Work - is still fundamental and needed to enrich us and other people lives. This Story is dedicated to all the people who work, to all the People who are struggling to find a job, to the underpaid, to the exploited, and to who works in slave conditions, another way is really possible, and it is not the usual meaningless slogan! In this story are portrayed: Unemployed people, IT technician, designer, handyman, architect, upholsterer, engineer, wood worker, decorator, iron & steel worker, welder, blacksmith, seamstress, dressmaker, cook, historian, waiter, train worker, chef, carpenter, joiner, scientist, director, bartender, reader, people with fantasy and creativity, cameraman, artist, film-maker, journalist, gardener, professor, visual artist, animal carer, producer, painter, librarian, web designer, musician, cleaner, factotum, office worker, writer, call center worker, health worker, philosopher, bicycle fixer, mechanic, waste picker, applicant, recycler, artisan, pastry chef, tour operator, driver, Mother, Father, actor, pilot, innovator, farmer, educator, teacher, Maestro, photographer, railway man/woman, politician (in a frame), banker.
Happy International Workers Day, long live MayDay!
