Dunkirk Camp.

Under the Sky of Calais & Dunkirk. Two Camps, Two Sides of the Same Coin: Not 'migrants', Not 'refugees', just Humans.

France, 24-30/03/2016. Documenting (and following) Zekra and her experience in the two French camps at the gate of the United Kingdom: Calais' "Jungle" and Dunkirk's "Grande-Synthe". Zekra lives in London but she is originally from Basra in Iraq. Zekra and her family had to flee Kuwait - where they moved for working reason - due to the "Gulf War", and to the Western Countries' will to "export Democracy in Iraq". Zekra is a self-motivated volunteer and founder of "Happy Ravers", a group of people (not a NGO or a charity) linked to each other because of their love for rave parties but also men and women who meet up every week to help homeless people and other people in need in Central London. (Here there are some of the stories I covered about Zekra and "Happy Ravers": http://bit.ly/1XVj1Cg & http://bit.ly/24kcGQz & http://bit.ly/1TY0dPO). Zekra worked as an English teacher in the adult school at Dunkirk's "Grande-Synthe" camp and as a cultural mediator and Arabic translator for two medic teams in Calais' "Jungle". Please read her story at the beginning of this reportage.
