Rome, Italy. 27th Mar, 2021. Today, Housing Rights Movements, Citizens, Associations, Trade Unions, extra-parliamentary Political Parties, State School and University students, held a demonstration outside the Ministry of Infrastructures, near Porta Pia, to urgently call the Italian Government to do more and quickly to properly support people after one year of the ongoing pandemic Covid-19 / Coronavirus, to create a National Basic Income, to build new public housing estates and provide to the people the one which are left empty, to stop the rent of houses and shops, to increase investment in the SSN (Italian National Health Service), to stop evictions. Protesters call the Government, the Lazio Region, and the Mayor of Rome to give structural answers to longstanding problems linked to austerity and precarious work, such as invisibility, poverty, black markets, "caporalato" (illegal hiring), housing crisis, citizenship, social and economic exclusion and exploitation. Around 4 PM, a delegation of protesters was received by the Infrastructures Undersecretary, Giancarlo Cancelleri (Five Star Movement), with whom they had a two-hour meeting and the promise to do something to solve the issues protesters have raised.
