Rome, 16/02/2020. Today, thousands of people gathered in Rome's Piazza Santi Apostoli holding the second demo (1.) in the Italian Capital of the growing "Sardines" movement. The Sardines (1.) was founded in November 2019 in Bologna to protest against the leader of the far-right party Lega/League Matteo Salvini (2.) launching the campaign for the Emilia-Romagna regional election held in January 2020. In a recent interview, one of the four founders of the Sardines, Mattia Sartori, 32, told AFP: "We are anti-fascist, pro-equality, against intolerance, against homophobia," as protesters sang the anti-fascist anthem Bella Ciao. The Sardines demonstration was organised by the "6000 Sardine Lazio" (3.) and held concurrently with a Lega / Salvini event happening in another area of Rome.<br />
