Rome, Italy. 23rd Apr, 2021. Today, Alitalia, air transport, Airports, logistic, and related workers, led by USB, CUB Trasporti Trade Unions, and supported by the Mayor of Fiumicino, held a protest outside the Terminal 3 of Rome's Fiumicino Airport (main Rome's Airport also known as Leonardo Da Vinci Airport). The aims of the demo were to protest against the plan, under discussion between Mario Draghi's Italian Government and the European Union (EU - UE), to dismantle the flag carrier of Italy, Alitalia, make it a small and regional airline with a different name - while it is still one of the biggest airport slots owner in the world -, and to lay-off the majority of the workers - about 11,000 - of the Italian historical air company. At the end of the demo protesters, patrolled by a conspicuous number of police officers, were allowed to demonstrate outside the Alitalia HQ near the airport. <br />
