Genoa, Italy. 19, 20, 21 July 2021. Twenty years after the dramatic and terrifying events related to the 2001 Genoa's G8 meeting, according to Amnesty International: "the most serious suspension of democratic rights in a Western country since the Second World War" (1.) and as stated on the 2001 "Report on the situation of fundamental rights in the EU" the European Parliament "deplores the suspensions of fundamental rights that took place during public demos, and in particular at the G8 meeting in Genoa, such as freedom of expression, freedom of movement, the right to physical integrity" (2.). As a reminder, the City of Genoa is State Gold Medal (Medaglia D'Oro) for its Antifascist Resistance in World War II.<br />
Some photos, part of this story, are presented appositely in Black & White to show to the audience "the Places" where the majority of - the already mentioned (see above) - "suspensions of fundamental rights […] such as freedom of expression, freedom of movement, the right to physical integrity" (2.) happened.<br />
In these three days, throughout a series of events, Genoa and its People, survivors and witnesses, experts and activists, remembered what happened 20 years ago, discussed the present situation of a world dominated by "casino capitalism", predatory neo-liberalism, wars, rightless globalization, ...<br />
