This evening, under heavy rain and temperature close to 0°, protesters - led by the People Assembly Against Austerity, Junior Doctors Alliance & Health Campaigns Together - gathered outside the Department of Health in Richmond House to protest against the National Health Service (NHS) crisis which led the Red Cross to declare a humanitarian crisis in the British NHS and were forced to intervene. From the organisers Facebook event page: <<[…] This Government has created the crisis in the NHS. Hospitals are underfunded, social care has collapsed which puts more pressure on hospitals, staff are overworked and conditions are deteriorating. The Governments drive to privatise the NHS will only make this situation worse. We must take action to defend our NHS or we risk losing it forever […]>>.<br />
